My name is Kyriel-Patrick Dominic Roberts. Within the uniqueness of my name, one is able to comprehend that I, myself and my personality are one of a kind. I was born to the country island of Trinidad and Tobago, the first son a preacher. In 1994, my family which consisted of myself my father my mother and my sister, moved across the globe and relocated in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. There our new lives were filled with trial, error, unfairness but most of all new opportunity. Due to Caribbean customs my parents’ methods of disciplining my sister and I were considered to be inhumane. Because of an inner turmoil fed by a sense on growth injustice, my social status viewed upon me as a trouble maker and later on, a bully. Since I found my life at home to be devastating and unjust I took my anger out on all outsiders’ friends or foe. However, the literal genius that I shared in my father’s genes due to his expectations, forced me to cast aside my devious ways and turn to books and literature. T’was during this ideological metamorphosis that I began to acquire my lyrical potential. Even in elementary school since grade one, every teacher I encountered had negative comments and views on my attitude, however still appraised my verbal and intellectual abilities.
